Sony has launched the INZONE H6 Wired Air gaming headset with a clear focus on positional audio accuracy, introducing an open-back design, 360 Spatial Sound support, and a lightweight 199g build. Priced at $199.99, the headset uses studio-derived drivers from the MDR-MV1 and targets players who rely on precise in-game sound cues.
The open-back construction is the defining change here. Unlike sealed designs, it allows air and sound to pass through the earcups, reducing internal reflections and widening the soundstage. In practical terms, this improves spatial awareness, making directional audio like footsteps, gunfire, and environmental cues easier to identify.
Sony has equipped the INZONE H6 with custom-tuned drivers and integrated back ducts to regulate airflow. This helps maintain deeper bass response while keeping mids and highs clear. The sound profile has been developed with input from PlayStation Studios, and the INZONE Hub software includes preset EQ modes tailored for RPG and action titles.
When connected via the USB-C Audio Box, the headset supports virtual 7.1 channel surround sound along with 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming. These features depend on software, which means they are not available when using the standard 3.5mm analog connection alone.
